2X Releases ApplicationServer v.5 Small Business Edition
Thursday, 31 May 2007 by Michel Roth
2X must have been very busy recently because it has been a bit quiet around them. They however have a new release out for their flagship product: ApplicationServer v.5 (Small Business Edition). I'm guessing the Small Business Edition is just determined by the license key and that it has the same basic features as the "Enterprise Edition". The new features of ApplicationServer v.5 are:

Universal Printer DriverThe new integrated universal printer is a single-driver printing solution for 2X ApplicationServer. It enables any client device to print to any shared network printer of any make, model, or print driver. The 2X Printer Driver fully enables client-side printing using a single PDF-compatible print driver and supports RDP Win32 clients. It allows 2X Client users to print on their local printer.

Sycnhronizing Desktop Objects with Published Shortcuts
The administrator can now create shortcuts to published applications, desktops or documents to the client desktop.

Associate File Extensions of Published Applications
Registers specific file extensions with a particular application on the client.

Full Redundancy
If the primary installation machine fails, a secondary machine will take over.

Improved Client
New client handles "Application Groups" with the same name. The UI now handles groups (displayed in the folder view) with the same name.
