It has been quiet around 2X for some time now but recently 2X came out with a newbeta version of their flagship product: 2X ApplicationServer. This new version, 6.0 is an open Beta and has several new features.
It's kind of ironic. The more popular a particular application is, the harder it is to virtualize. Those of use that have worked with application virtualization a lot know that it's usually quite a hassle to virtualize a popular application like office. Especially Office 2007. After the Neoware, Athena and others, HP now also has added a first Thin Client notebook model to it's Thin Client portfolio. This model, the HP 6720t, is the first in a line of Thin Client Notebooks that HP is going to offer. HP is late in the Thin Client Notebook area and they know it.
The beauty of Server Core is it's tiny footprint. Server Core owes these small feet to carrying as little baggage as possible. Unfortunately this also means not carrying the RDP protocol.
