Automating Branch Office Desktop Deployments Using BDD Zero Touch Installation And 1E OSD Plus Pack
Monday, 24 April 2006 by Michel Roth
This white paper documents how to integrate the functionality of the 1E OSD Plus Pack to address the challenges in employing Business Desktop Deployment (BDD) guidance and Zero Touch Installation capabilities in small-office settings.

The 1E OSD Plus Pack extends the capabilities of the Business Desktop Deployment and Zero Touch Installation (ZTI) deployment solution components into branch and small-office locations by providing intelligent, bandwidth-sensitive image and application distribution and local PXE boot capabilities. This white paper demonstrates the steps required to extend the capabilities of the SMS Operating System Deployment (OSD) Feature Pack and BDD ZTI using the 1E OSD Plus Pack. It also examines three deployment scenarios (Refresh, New Computer, and Replace) in poorly connected and serverless branch offices. The solution can remove the need for costly site visits by service technicians.
