Citrix support just released a new Hotfix that addresses an issue with the Citrix Memory Optimization feature found in Citrix Presentation Server 4.0 Enterprise Edition. This Hotfix addresses a major bug in the Memory Optimization feature that is resulting in some applications being required to be excluded even though they meet all the requirements. This directly affects the amount of memory savings, and hence the system benefits you receive with the Citrix Memory Optimization feature. The problem is that when enabling the Citrix Memory Optimization feature on a server running Presentation Server 4.0, the feature may log an incorrect date to the optimization stream. This may result in application processes exiting unexpectedly, or problems when installing applications in an application isolation environment and thus you are required to exclude the application through the Memory Optimization exclusion list. This should not be the case and these hotfixes are designed to solve this problem by assigning the correct time stamp to each applications DLLs. To address this bug, Citrix created the following hotfixes. The problem with these hotfixes are that they DELETE ALL incorrect existing optimizations from optimized applications. This could cause HUGE issues as it could take up to 30 days to re-optimize all applications on your servers and thus get back to the saving a server is currently receiving. Read it all here.
