They tested the performance of a PACS application (a common healthcare graphics application) over 4 kinds of networks including a T1, an ADSL connection and a satellite uplink. They measured a decrease of respectively 93% ,90% and 89% in bandwidth utilisation when comparing Presentation Server 4.5 to Presentation Server 4.0. These are some pretty interesting results. In my initial testing I never noticed any real improvements in the graphical user experience when using Presentation Server 4.5 for normal day-to-day work like emailing, browsing the Internet or reading a pdf file. Apparently it can have a huge effect though if you are using a particular kind of 2D applications. So, this paper by the Tolly Group is definitely worth reading.
