Dynamic Virtual Channels

The Terminal Services Team has a blog entry up on the enhancements in the virtual channel architecture in Windows Vista SP1 and Windows Server 2008. It's not for the faint of heart but very interesting nonetheless. The article is about the main enhancement in the virtual channel architecture ,something called DVC or in a more descriptive fashion, Dynamic Virtual Channels.

In Windows Vista SP1 and Windows Server 2008 Microsoft has made it a lot easier for third-party vendors to write virtual channel applications. They've even provided a sample virtual channel application, complete with code. This sample application adds a extra RDP Client Desktop" entry to the "Send To" context menu in your RDP session so you can easily send a file to your clients desktop. Kind of cool The point is of course to demonstrate that it's very much possible to write your own virtual channel application. I've got one word for all you developers out there: ActiveSync ;-).
