Feature Pack 1 For CPS 4.5 Available

Today Citrix released Feature Pack 1 for CPS 4.5 to current Citrix customers (with a current subscription license) and partners. I'm guessing that will be announcing it upcoming Friday (the 21st) officially. There's two CDs available, one for clean installations "Presentation Server 4.5 with Feature Pack 1 Platinum" and one CD which is the "Presentation Server 4.5 with Feature Pack 1 Components CD ". The Components Cd should be your primary target. This one contains the goods that actually make up Feature Pack 1. Note that you will be unable to find EasyCall on that disc. EasyCall will only be distributed with the appliance associated with the EasyCall feature.

Yesterday Citrix already released a "Pre-installation Update Bulletin" which gives you a heads up of what to look out for when installing Feature Pack 1 For CPS 4.5. This bulletin doesn't seem to be that much of a big deal. The only thing to look out for is when you are planning in installing SmartAuditor, you need to be aware that you must have hotfix PSE450R01W2K3011 installed prior to installing SmartAuditor.

Speaking of which, Citrix has also has released the SmartAuditor Admin guide so you can start reading into it. There's a lot to be learned form the admin guide. Here's a peak at the SmartAuditor player:

Some of the things that stand out from the Admin guide:
SmartAuditor configuration/ policies are configured a another management console: the SmartAuditor Console This is an MMC based console. I'm assuming that the SmartAuditor configuration will be migrated to the AMC in the next version of Presentation Server.
You need a SQL Database to store the SmartAuditor recordings and their associated metadata. SQL Express will do for smaller environments,although you have a maximum of 4GB in the database size with SQl Express.
You can configure whether or not a user needs to be informed that their session will be recorded. A small but very important feature in my mind.
Because SmartAuditor policies are applied at the beginning of a session there's trouble to be expected when session sharing is enabled (which is what you want) because then the initial session determines whether or not your sessions will be recorded.

I'm going to have a look at SmartAuditor in-depth very soon. I'll report back with my findings.
