How to Collect System Startup Traces with the CDF
Thursday, 07 July 2005 by Michel Roth
Summary
This document provides the steps required to capture a Common Diagnostic Facility (CDF) trace during system startup.

Procedure
Create a registry value under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Citrix\Tracing:
Value Name: PersistentTraceLogPath
Value Type: REG_SZ
Value: Type the log path here.
Note: The value typed for the log path should be a path, such as C:\LogFileDepot. Do not type the filename of the log file.
The trace session name and trace log file name will always be CDF_PersistSession and CDF_PersistSession.etl, respectively. The log file will be stored at the path specified by the registry settings above.
The trace path must be an existing path, it cannot be created at runtime.
