IGEL Delivers Advanced Multimedia Features On Linux Thin Clients
Wednesday, 23 March 2005 by Michel Roth
IGEL today announced the availability of the IGEL-5128 LX Premium with the MPlayer and a newly developed codec download tool. The MPlayer ensures that end users in sectors such as education, healthcare, and training always enjoy a rich audio-visual experience.

MPlayer is the award-winning multimedia player for Linux platforms and supports all common media formats including DVD, MPEG, DivX, Quicktime, and MP3 to offer the end user the most flexible way in handling the necessary codecs. IGEL integrates a special codec download tool which allows end users to easily download updated or new MPlayer codecs from pre-defined locations and install them locally on the Thin Client without the need to contact helpdesks. Of course the customer has to take care and is responsible about the corresponding license agreements of the downloaded codecs.
