Neoware Introduces Neoware Security Center |

One of the primary drivers of the increasing rate of thin client adoption is the enhanced security that they provide compared to PCs. Neoware Firewall and Neoware Open Anti-Virus are designed to further raise the security benefits of Neoware thin clients over desktop PCs. Neoware Firewall prevents unauthorized access to servers and desktops by filtering both inbound and outbound access requests. In contrast, thin clients from other vendors typically offer either no firewall, or one with only inbound access restrictions, which would still allow their infected thin clients to propagate the infection to other desktops in an enterprise. Neoware Open Anti-Virus permits the installation of industry standard anti-virus solutions on Neoware Windows XPe thin clients, allowing customers to protect Neoware thin clients with virtually any anti-virus solution available for PCs. With Neoware Open Anti-Virus, enterprises can deploy the same anti-virus solution to both thin clients and PCs, making ongoing administration easier and more cost-effective. Neoware Open Anti-Virus permits anti-virus updates to thin clients, while simultaneously locking down the device from other changes. Neoware is the only thin client provider to offer this patent-pending technology that makes it possible to manage frequent anti-virus security updates without incurring the downtime required by system reboots and software management. Neoware Security Center is available with Neoware thin clients running Windows XPe, and with Neoware Image Manager, the innovative software that streams industry standard operating systems from a server to a PC or thin client without local storage, which secures and protects desktop environments while providing all of the functionality of a PC.
