Wednesday, 03 May 2006 by Michel Roth
David Marshall has a new book out: Advanced Server Virtualization: VMware and Microsoft Platforms in the Virtual Data Center. That's a big mouthfull!

dvanced Server Virtualization emphasizes the design, implementation and management of server virtualization from both a technical and a consultative point of view. It provides practical guides and examples, such as how to properly size and evaluate virtualization technologies. It is founded not in theory, but based on real world experiences in implementing and managing large scale projects and environments. The book focuses on the core knowledge needed to evaluate, implement, and maintain an environment that is using server virtualization.

The book is divided into major sections to make it both a step-by-step guide on learning and implementing server virtualization as well as a quick reference. The chapter organization focuses first on introducing concepts and background, and then provides real-world scenarios.
