RES To Launch "Lite" Version Of Powerfuse At $60 / CCU
Friday, 05 October 2007 by Michel Roth
Yesterday, at RES' own event RES Focus 2008, RES Announced that they will be offering a "lite" version of their popular product Powerfuse called RES PowerFuse Express. This version will go for about $60 per concurrent user which is a considerably lower price than the full version of RES Powerfuse. However, this version has a maximum of 100 concurrent users and one database. RES was unable to disclose which features will make in into this RES PowerFuse Express but commented that "the key features" will be included. RES is setting the release date at the 1st of April 2008.

I think this is a good move to make by RES. Powerfuse is a very potent product but it is kind of the victim of its own environments. Let me explain. Traditionally Powerfuse is a product that is used a lot in Citrix environments. Since just adding Citrix to Terminal Server really adds to the total price of a SBC environments, Powerfuse usually doesn't make it into the production environment because this adds an additional $125-$150 to the package. Perhaps this new PowerFuse Express is able to change this.

Thanks to Wilco van Bragt for the news.
