Ron Oglesby Releases VMware ESX Server: Advanced Technical Design Guide For Free
Wednesday, 23 May 2007 by Michel Roth
Ron Oglesby, one of the most well known individuals in the VMware industry, has made a grand gesture and is offering his book, called VMware ESX Server: Advanced Technical Design Guide, free for download! VMware ESX Server: Advanced Technical Design Guide is the VMware equivalent of Brian Maddens book on Terminal Services called: "Terminal Services for Microsoft Windows Server 2003: Advanced Technical Design Guide" which is also available for free download.

VMware ESX Server: Advanced Technical Design Guide is not an administrator’s guide. Rather, it’s written for IT consultants, system engineers, and architects who must plan, design, implement, and optimize VMware ESX systems. This book covers how virtualization works, the "real" difference between GSX and ESX, hardware allocation, getting devices to work, real-world server sizing, SAN vs. local storage, the inner workings of ESX, security, server monitoring, automated installations and provisioning, high availability, and backup and disaster recovery strategies.

Al though this book is based on VMware 2.5 and Ron has a new book coming out on VI3, it definitely still holds great value. Get your own copy by downloading it from the website of the company Ron works for: RapidApp.
