SCVMM 2008 Pricing Announced

Recently Microsoft announced the pricing for the upcoming SCVMM 2008 which managed Hyper-V, ESX and XenServer. The availability was already known: Q4 of this year. Pricing of course will be interesting since everybody is looking to compare it with VMware Virtual Center.

Earlier I mentioned that Virtual Machine Manager 2007 was only available as part of available as part of SMSE (System Center Server Management Suite Enterprise) but that Virtual Machine Manager 2008 would be available for purchase separately as well. So how much does it cost? Well, at the current SMSE price, the cost for the stand-alone VMM license would be between $1,100 and $1,150. VMM 2008 will be sold as a per-device enterprise server management license and will include rights to the management server.
