Office Communicator changed name to Lync. Lync 2010 was just released. A big change is support for virtualization in Lync deployments. This paper details that support.

This document outlines a series of best-practice recommendations for running Microsoft Lync Server 2010 communications software in a virtualized environment. It talks about Hyper-V and, yes, VMware. It does not cover desktop virtualization or application virtualization scenarions but I am sure that will follow, besides there already is some information on the RDS blog if you know where to look.
