Softgrid 4.5 Dynamic Suiting In Practise
Thursday, 31 January 2008 by Michel Roth
Dynamic Suiting is one of the key features of Softgrid Microsoft Application Virtualization 4.5. The beta of Microsoft Application Virtualization 4.5 allows you to testdrive this feature, however I know first hand that it can be a hassle to set up. Thankfully Justin Zarb is here to show you how he got it to work.

Dynamic Suiting makes it possible for virtual applications to interact with each other. This is typically suited for environments that require some form of client or runtime. Take the Java Runtime for example. Now you could have one virtual front end application use the virtual oracle client. In his article, Justin uses the example of Office 2007 and SnagIT. Office 2007 is not one of the most easy applications to sequence so there's a lot to learn here. Justin shows you exactly how to edit the OSD to make the Dynamic Suiting work. He uses Microsoft XML editor to do this. This can however be very prone to error so I prefer to use the OSD Editor . The current release of the OSD editor does not support dynamic suiting but I know that this is right around the corner ...
