Test Drive Citrix XenDesktop Server - Without Doing Anything
Wednesday, 21 November 2007 by Michel Roth
Want to test the new Citrix XenDesktop Server but don't have the time, hardware, spirit or all of the above to do it? Well, look no further!

Gareth James, the guy that blogged about his experiences with XenDesktop Server earlier, has done exactly what I wanted to do but unfortunately did not have time to do: set up a live environment with Citrix Xen Desktop server running that you can connect to from the Internet.

He has a setup running on ESX Server hosting a Citrix Secure Gateway, Domain Controller, A XenDesktop Server, and five workstations. The workstations are pooled such that you attach to them randomly out of the pool. You will need too download the certificate of his CSG to be able to connect through it and then you can test drive a XenDesktop virtual desktop (Am I making any sense?) yourself.

Gareth said that he has five virtual desktops available so by the time you read this, you might have to wait in line. Oh well, look at it from the bright side: Gareth gets his Internet connection stress tested as well. I would however most sincerely like to echo his sentiments: "This is available to the community, please show consideration and don't break it."

(Yes, co.za stands for South Africa - any bets on the latency?)
