TS RemoteApp And Frontside Authentication
Saturday, 23 February 2008 by Michel Roth
This is almost getting boring but not quite. The Enterprise Platforms Windows Server Performance Team has produced another two articles that discuss Terminal Services in Windows Server 2008 that are definitely worth reading.

TS RemoteApp
This first article is on the most famous improvement in Terminal Services in Windows Server 2008: TS RemoteApps. As you all know TS RemoteApps is the Enterprise Platforms Windows Server Performance Team discusses the processes associated with a RemoteApp and also discusses the use of TS Web to display the RemoteApp.

Frontside Authentication and SSO
The second article is on the subject of Frontside Authentication and SSO. In human language this is that somewhat irritating authentication you have been seeing since the 6.0 Remote Desktop Client. This really isn't to annoy the living daylights out of you but really is all about security and performance, believe it or not. The security is in that you need to be authenticated by the Terminal Server before actually get to log into the Terminal Server. The performance part, or rather scaling part, is that all the processes with a Terminal Services session will not get started until it determines "you're worth it".
