Using TS Web Access in RC0
Wednesday, 17 October 2007 by Michel Roth
When preparing for my session on Windows Server 2008 Terminal Services for Briforum Europe 2007 I ran into this exact issue: I could not launch applications anymore from the TS Web Access website.

At first I thought it was something in my setup, but after testing this through I determined that this was due to something that changed in RC0. As it turns out Microsoft didn't just remove the AD integration for TS Web Access, they also updated the TS Web Access component so that it requires the RDP Client version that ships with Windows Vista SP1 and WindowsXP SP3.... which have not been shipped yet. Note that Microsoft isn't making available a beta for the updated RDP Client though, you need to apply the entire Vista Service Pack 1 or Windows XP Service Pack 3 to get the updated RDP client. This doesn't strike me as the best move to make when there's definately organistations out there who are testdriving Windows Server 2008 TS Web Access based on RC0.

The Terminal Services team has a blog entry up on how you can redirect the default error message to a custom page where you can download the updated RDP Client. I'm sure there must be a way that you can use just the updated RDP Client without applying an entire Service Pack to get it. I'm going to try and find out. If you guys know of a way, please share them with the other readers in the comments!
