Wyse PocketCloud
Thursday, 27 August 2009 by Michel Roth
Wyse is starting to (try to?) look like a software company more and more. The first software pieces (TCX) applied to SBC/VDI very well. The latest, Wyse PocketCloud, doesn't seem to fit that well...

ocketCloud allows you to view and manage your PC and your virtual Windows desktop anytime and anywhere on your iPhone or iPod touch. W

Wyse Experience! PocketCloud uses an enhanced, secure, and highly optimized Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) and VMware View™ 3.1 client. PocketCloud leverages years of experience in embedded thin-client application development; our implementations of RDP and VMware View clients are second to none with the latest protocol specifications licensed from Microsoft and VMware.

Wyse PocketCloud also enables "Super Fast" Web browsing with its revolutionary Thin-Browser™. This feature and others, like automatic keyboard detection, are automatically enabled once you install our free PocketCloud Windows Companion™ on your remote or virtual machine.

Wyse PocketCloud asks for the IP address of your server, but no further explanation. I know the IP of my PC & wireless router, but is that the IP they're looking for ?
We're not all IT pros, so a little more lay person talk would be very appreciated.

I tried to log on to the forum, but the new client software won't let me and it doesn't send a password e-mail to your mailbox as stated.

I'm in a quandry and don't know what to do. If you can help, please e-mail me.

Thanks

I think that the iPad's future is especially secure with the use of the device as a business tool, as with the 2X Client for iOS (http://www.2x.com/virtualdesktop/ios)...it's a free download and lets you use Windows apps from your iPad, giving you application publishing and RDP Remote Desktop capabilities for free, in contrast to the Citrix Receiver and Wyse PocketCloud. Definitely worth a look.
