XenDesktop Tech Preview Kit Available
Friday, 09 November 2007 by Michel Roth
After initially being expected on the 29th of October, today Citrix finally made the XenDesktop Tech Preview Kit is available for download. This is a public preview so anyone can download it.

Note that this does not contain the full-blown XenDesktop suite. This preview kit "only" includes a desktop delivery controller (XenDesktop Server, the next generation of Citrix Desktop Server) and the Xen virtualization infrastructure (XenServer Enterprise). This is the same preview that was given away at recent Citrix events.

To get a look at the real deal we'll have to wait another couple of weeks. Then Citrix will release more components of the XenDesktop Tech Preview Kit, including desktop provisioning technologies and an easy-to-use, wizard-driven setup tool.

I think it is still worth checking out though, if only because XenDesktop Server contains the PortICA technology which allows you to connect to virtual desktop (Windows XP or Vista) using ICA protocol and all it's associated goodness (well almost all associated goodness) The download is a healthy 650+ MB download. Get it here.
