XenDesktop Tech Preview To Include PortICA
Monday, 05 November 2007 by Michel Roth
Jeff Muir has a blog entry to to emphasize that the delayed Tech Preview of XenDesktop Server will include PortICA.

PortICA is a part of a Project called Trinity within Citrix. PortICA, in a nutshell, is ICA for Windows Desktop OSes (XP and Vista) This would allow you to use the ICA protocol to connect to a virtual desktop. This is why PortICA is so important to XenDesktop Server.

I think it will be interesting to see what technologies make it into "ICA for desktop".... If anyone over at Citrix is listening: please, pretty please with sugar on top, please make sure you support SpeedScreen in PortICA?

Jeff in host post also points out that XenDesktop server will still run on Vmware Server, ESX or Microsoft Virtual Server for that matter. But wait, but why did Citrix call it XenDesktop if it also run on other vendors OS virtualization products? Confused yet? If so, Citrix marketing did a good job ....
