XenServer Wins SearchServerVirtualization.com Virtualization Platform Of 2007 Award
Wednesday, 30 January 2008 by Michel Roth
There are many awards out there these days. Here's one I had not heard about before: the SearchServerVirtualization.com 2007 Product of the Year Awards. I must be kind of noteworthy because Citrix just announced that they won "Gold" in the Virtual Platforms category.

So apparently the judges in the jury of the SearchServerVirtualization.com 2007 Product of the Year Awards found XenServer more worthy of the Gold medal than, say, ESX Server. The awards were presented by the editors of TechTarget’s Data Center Media Group, and products are judged based on innovation, performance, ease of integration into existing environments, ease of use and manageability, functionality and value. This is kind of remarkable because generally speaking the feeling is that Citrix XenServer isn't quite up there with VMware ESX yet but again perhaps it's in the mix of innovation, performance, ease of integration into existing environments, ease of use and manageability, functionality and value. I guess value had a decent weight in the judging.

I love this quote from Phil Montgomery, a senior director of product marketing at Citrix (obviously aimed at VMware):

"This award highlights XenServer Enterprise Edition 4.0 as a solid, enterprise-class platform, ready to give the market leader a run for its money.”

Press release.
